Rotary Mazda RX9 Rumoured To Be At Tokyo Motor Show Next Year

We’re all very used to hearing new bits and pieces of information about the so called RX9 rotary. Whether it’s through the grape vine or through press releases, we’re getting more than excited! Although this piece of information hasn’t come straight from Mazda, but instead from a publication called Levolant Boost linked here.

They say the rotary powered RX9 will be debuting at the Tokyo Motor Show in October. It will reflect the design of the Mazda RX – Vision concept car.

Tucked under the front bonnet – probably – will definitely be a rotary engine with forced induction. It will also have about 450hp and will be named Skyactiv-R. The R standing for rotary. Apparently, it should come with a price tag of $71,000 too.

With this year being the 50th anniversary of the Wankel rotary, it would make perfect sense for Mazda to release the new RX this year. Especially as the NSX is now in full swing and with the Supra just round the corner.

It could finally be time for Japan to give us their version of the Holy Trinity. And I’m very excited.

Are you looking forward to the new rotary? Let me know in the comments below!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
