This Perfect Group B RX7 Is The Only One Left – And It’s For Sale

This original Group B RX7 rally car is entirely original, and completely unused. Created under the guidance of Achim Warmbold to be used during the ‘golden years’ of Group B, Warmbold and his team were supposed to produce 20 examples of this beautiful car.

Unfortunately, with the end of Group B quickly becoming a reality in 1987, only 7 were made with the rest becoming nothing more than spare parts.

This car, chassis MRTE 019, was one of the original seven, but was never used for racing. It has been kept in Belgium at Mazda Racing Team Europe, then in the early 1990s was displayed in Sweden before becoming part of a private collection.

It has recently had a ‘light-touch’ restoration, and has been put back to the exact Works specification – even down to the correct type of cable ties – meaning it’s not only the last RX7 rally car, but maybe even the last ever untouched Group B rally car left in existence.

This certainly is one of a kind.

Of course the car homes a Wankel twin-rotary engine under its bonnet which is good for 300hp, and although it wasn’t as advanced as some of its competitors, it achieved third place at the 1985 Acropolis Rally with Ingvar Carlosson behind the wheel.

A real piece of history.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
