Jeremy Clarkson Slamming Packs Of Nicotine Gum In Attempt To Quit Smoking For Good

Once upon a time I was a 2 pack a day smoker. When it came time to quit, I chewed nicotine gum like there was no tomorrow, and slapped nicotine patches on everywhere. I’m pretty sure I was getting more nicotine in my system than when I was actively smoking.

All this to say that I know exactly what Jeremy is going through. Many of us do. Jeremy, however, has taken it to a whole other level (as is usually the case with Jeremy related stuff). Kicking a 43 year old habit is damn near impossible, but that’s what Jezza is dealing with at the moment.

In those 43 years, Jeremy has smoked somewhere in the area of 630,000 cigarettes! What does all that translate into when he’s attempting to quit?

About 10 packs of nicotine gum per day. Ten PACKS.

Posting his struggle on Instagram, however, had a positive effect as he was met with support from fans. One fan even wrote: “Good luck you can do it you probably will kill May in the process but you can give up cigarettes .”

Clarkson was forced to quit after his recent bout with pneumonia:

“I was told, by everyone, that I had to stop. Immediately . I had no choice at the time because the blood poisoning was so bad and I was so racked with the resultant rigors that I couldn’t work a cigarette lighter.

So now it’s been a month. I’ve pushed it. I’ve got drunk. I’ve stayed up late. I’ve been to bars with smokers and sat outside in a cloud of their exhalations. And so far I haven’t cracked .”

Here’s wishing you luck, Jeremy! I know how hard it can be, and it sounds like you’re doing wonderfully so far!
