Lewis Hamilton Terrifies Interviewer During Sepang Hot Lap

It looks like Rosanna Tennant, presenter of the Mercedes F1 team’s YouTube channel, got a little more than she bargained for when she went to interview Lewis Hamilton at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

Described by Hamilton as nothing more than a “Sunday drive,” their lap of Sepang is, predictably, filled with tire smoke and V8 noise from the AMG GT’s 4.0L engine. Hamilton is utterly at ease as he skids around corners and spins the occasional donut. Tennant, on the other hand, looks somewhat less so.

Tennant does manage to squeak a couple questions in here and there, though it’s not quite what you’d call hard-hitting journalism. When asked why he’s enjoying the current F1 season, all she gets out of Hamilton is that he loves the team and the new car. One interesting tidbit Rosanna teases from Lewis is that when he was a budding racer, his father would find out where the best drivers braked at each corner, then force him to leave it five meters later than they did. Seems to have worked.

Hamilton, ever the bad boy of F1, does a couple donuts at the end (even though they’re not allowed to do that, gasp), and Tennant confesses that she’s trembling from excitement. Given the ridiculous angles her hair achieves during the lap, I don’t really blame her.
