What would you do if your car wasn’t selling? Scrap it? Give up and keep driving the same car? Or would you take to YouTube and Facebook and create a hilarious, Top Gear-style video with the chances of someone possibly seeing it?

Well that’s what Harry Ainsworth did after struggling to sell his 15-year old Toyota Yaris. It was listed on Ebay for £350 and is now sold.

In the ‘ad’ he boasts about the car’s top speed of 38mph, massive boot space (enough for a body), and ample space for back seat passengers, or as the video shows, a hefty, pregnant looking dog.

He even managed to get an interview with the previous owner of the car… His father. Watch the video to see how that one turned out.

In an interview with Harry he says:

“Essentially it was a mixture of doing it for a laugh and genuinely wanting to sell the car. I’m constantly looking for excuses to make videos and so when dad said he wanted to sell the car I persuaded him to let me make a video to accompany it.

“I tried to mix honesty with humor so people hopefully know what they’re getting themselves in for! Having said that, other than the dodgy paintwork and a few other dents and dings, the car is pretty sound. Our eBay listing is at 2000 views already which is more than I’ve seen, but I’m totally unsure how it’s going to go.

“I wrote a script and rallied together camera equipment from my friend and just got going! The best selling features of the car have to be it’s size and it’s looks. The size makes its super convenient to nip about in and I think for a 15 year old car it’s retained a somewhat modern look…I think.”

This wasn’t the first time he’s made a video, with his first made to recruit a flatmate also gaining thousands of views on Facebook.

Since the video the car has sold for more than it’s asking price. Goes to show what difference a funny video can make!
