Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Coming To Netlfix

Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is coming to Netflix this year, making its move from Crackle. According to Variety, later this year, the show will make its Netflix debut with 24 new episodes.

In addition, the entire backlog of 59 episodes will also be available via Netlfix, with plans to add another season for next year. This comes as part of a deal between Seinfeld and Netflix, which also includes two Netflix exclusive stand-up specials.

Seinfeld himself offered his thoughts on the deal with Netflix:

“When I first started thinking about ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,’ the entire Netflix business model consisted of mailing out DVDs in envelopes. I love that we are now joining together, both at very different points. I am also very excited to be working with Ted Sarandos at Netflix, a guy and a place that not only have the same enthusiasm for the art of stand up comedy as I do, but the most amazing technology platform to deliver it in a way that has never existed before. I am really quite charged up to be moving there.”

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a critically acclaimed, show, racking up three Emmy nominations including one in the variety talk series category, a rare achievement for a show that runs on a streaming service and not a major television network. It’s success has not escaped Seinfeld, who is quoted as saying:

“I’m flattered and humbled our little show has gotten this far. We didn’t even know if audiences would watch a TV show on the internet every week.”
