Amazon Prime Members Now Get Select Seasons of Top Gear

Amazon has just released Top Gear series 2-17 to its instant catalog for Amazon Prime U.S. subscribers. Number 1: Series 15, Episode 1

Must watch because: What Top Gear fan doesn’t love the Reliant Robin episode. It features some of the funniest moments from the entirety of the Top Gear catalog. Almost impossible to watch without laughing out loud, no matter how many times you have seen it. There is just something about a giant man, a tiny three-wheeled car, and countless rollovers that is absolutely hysterical.

Number 2: Series 5, Episode 7

Must watch because: This episode is easily one of the most iconic, talked about, and perhaps controversial, in terms of motoring, of all the Top Gear episodes. The episode features the still talked about competition between the Mitsubishi Lance Evolution VIII and the Lamborghini Murcielago. In an effort to demonstrate the Evo’s amazing capabilities, Jeremy takes the 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, Mitsubishi Evo around the Top Gear track in pursuit of the Lamborghini Murcielago with its massive V-12 engine. *Spoiler alert* While in pursuit of the Lamborghini, mid corner, the Lamborghini spins out attempting to out run the little rally car that could. It’s been hotly debated whether or not the comparison was valid, or even proved the point, but nonetheless it has remained one of the shows most recognized episodes.

Number 3: Series 8, Episode 3

Must watch because: There’s nothing more relaxing than a day on the water. That is unless you’re Hammond, Clarkson, and May. In what would almost immediately turn out to be a show of terrible homemade engineering, the episode features a challenge in which the boys must build amphibious vehicles using a standard everyday vehicle as a base, in which the car must drive to a lake, drive in, successfully navigate across said lake, and drive out the other side. From the get go, there’s sinking, navigation problems, more sinking, negotiations, daring rescues, and much more. Another one of the show’s funniest episodes, it will have you laughing all the way to the premier of The Grand Tour.

Number 4: Series 17, Episode 4

Must watch because: Fire, speed, cars, trains, and catered treats. This episode has a little bit of everything and a lot of everything we love about our boys. In yet another classic Top Gear challenge, the trio must find a way to make a more economical form of train travel while also making it faster and more interesting.  They do this of course by taking everyday vehicles and using them to replace the conventional carriages and locomotive typically used. The challenge goes as smooth as most Top Gear challenges. Hammond and May team up to create the ultimate high class form of locomotion and provide the very best in railway travel for their guests, while Clarkson, you guessed it, goes for powaaaaaa. If you have yet to see this episode, you’re missing out!

Number 5: Series 12, Episode 8

Must watch because: This episode, one of the very best specials of the series, could be described as a buddy comedy road trip through a foreign land on motorcycles. Okay, so it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue but this episode is an absolute must watch. The three amigos must complete an epic journey across Vietnam for a total of 1,000 miles from Saigon to Ha Long City. The episode features amazing custom suits, customized motorbikes, hilarious pranks, and a lot of time with our three favorite motoring hosts. It is an episode which is not completely about cars, but still an absolute gem. If you’re looking for an episode of Top Gear to get someone new watching, this may be it!
