The Grand Tour

Jeremy Clarkson Doesn’t Care about the Success of The Grand Tour for Morbid Reasons

One of Jeremy Clarkson’s greatest attributes is his singular focus and wholehearted belief that what he knows is absolute and right. The vision has created one of the greatest television personalities in recent history, as well as Top Gear, the greatest show on television for the past 10 years.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Clarkson again showed what little regard he has for other people’s opinion as he talked about whether or not he cared if The Grand Tour succeeded or not.

“The stakes are lower. I’m now 56, it doesn’t really matter anymore, because I’ll be dead soon,” Jeremy Clarkson

Does being paid £160 million matter to Clarkson?

“People could say, ‘This is a terrible program and Amazon’s wasted its money,’ and I’ll go, ‘Yeah, I’ll be dead before they even notice.”

Clarkson, along with Hammond and May have been making the rounds with a ton of interviews by automotive and entertainment sites around the world. The one thing they keep on telling people who ask if The Grand Tour will be different from Top gear is this:

“Top Gear was like a shepherd’s pie. This is a cottage pie. It’s still comfort food, it’s still us, it still looks the same. But it’s different and people will just have to get used to the fact that the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment and The Stig have gone. We have new things instead, which, had we done them first of all – had you always had a cottage pie – people would have been perfectly happy with.”

New trailers and ad creatives are coming out every day, as we have less than 2 weeks left until the official premiere. If Clarkson was nervous before the first taping in South Africa, then it never really showed and I really doubt he’ll let anyone see that he’s nervous for the upcoming premiere as well.
